The BMZ is government designation (Blindmate Z) and was originally developed in the 1980s by Automatic Connector as PMMA. This connector has low insertion forces and a light spring which allow for high density applications.
The BMZ is a miniaturized version of the BZ, a high-frequency connector with slide-on mating. This blindmate has a frequency range of DC-18 GHz and 50 ohms impedance with an interface controlled by MIL-STD-348. Plugs are float-mounted for use in blind-mate applications. BMZ blindmates preserve mechanical and electrical performance with interfacial misalignment features. They have an external spring to provide mechanical movement for extensive mechanical misalignment of ± .020 radial and .060 axial minimum.
